Shaohan Tang  captures objects fromeveryday landscapes to establish a personalsense of order in his paintings. Departingairplanes, manifesting hands, blank flags,and cameras are common symbols withinhis visual lexicon. These elements navigatebetween image and representationaccording to the narrative or non-narrativedemands of the artworks. They coalescethrough a phased process, creating adisorderly syntax in the paintings thatallows for multi-threaded viewing.
