Catalog of Mirages

Li Zhuoheng attempts to generate a continuous objective perspective through the act of painting. The significance of his practice lies not in debating the subjective status between medium, technology and the human being, but in regarding himself as an intermediary — much like an electronic processor — that responds faithfully to input information.

He acknowledges all images produced through this process, and this act of acknowledgment is precisely “reduction” and “mapping”.

Although the artist seeks to establish absolute neutrality in this process, if the body is understood as a mediating agent, then just as media determine our situation, the mediated body also determines the situation of every image restored through the act of painting.
