Dirty Looks

Zhou Yilun, Xu He, and Zhao Yinou each represent three different dimensions of painting in today’s context, with significant differences in their working methods. However, their creative paths all involve a form of abandonment-based research on imagery. Viewers may perceive some eloquent images from the surface, but they cannot dominate the meaning, as it is almost always capable of transcending or evading questioning. This exhibition aims to extract the “invisible” aspects of the artists’ works, capturing a more clandestine gaze from the entanglement of seeing and being seen. It explores the possibility of revisiting an image that should not be seen today, reacting to the observation of non-visible entities, and presenting an untimely cross-linguistic encounter.Bo Yong12.12.2023
